Introduction to the Carbine Rifle

This class will serve as a starting point for your foundation to carbine education. It is designed for those who are new to the rifle platform. The main goal of this one day course is to master the basics and to safely operate and maintain a carbine.

Course Outline:

Range safety rules and commands
Rifle nomenclature and recommended upagrades
Sighting / Zero’ing in your rifle
Selecting the right gear
Barrel Sight Relationship (BSR)
Administrative loading and unloading
Pressing checking – day and night
Shooting positions and the fundamentals of each
Various types or reloads – Weapon side
Various malfunction clearing drills – Weapon side
Failure to stop drills

Equipment required: 

  • Ball cap or hat
  • Shooting glasses
  • Ear plugs or muffs
  • Primary Carbine / Rifle – reliable or bring a spare
  • Extra Magazines – 3 minimum
  • Ammo: 500 rounds (for the caliber of rifle used)

Suggested Equipment:

  • Long Pants
  • Knee pads
  • Hand towel
  • Sun screen
  • Magazine loader – If you own one
